We ended up on a bank-full(?) Kent which had >0.5m of water over all of the L-shaped fall. We did a run down the Upper Dart yesterday morning...unbelievable, similar very high levels to the previous weeks but friendlier...somehow there is no silt in the river now, the water is clear, the holes are aeriated and the whitewater is....well, 'white'. г It's a bit like a pub; most people go for a chat with their mates. Sometimes the chat gets a bit heated, sometimes a bit "political". Sometimes there's the obligatory group in the corner who seem to spend most of their time bickering. But very, very few people go back to the pub in the full knowledge that they can't get in through the door without an argument. They - and their mates - find another pub. When we ran the weirs we didn't look to see the gauge reading, but it seemed pretty high! Yes we did run the measuring weir and the salmon step. No - it's the middle wave at Mile End Mill....fantastic place to play, although apparently some people have had nasty bumps when they get flipped (never happened to me.....yet : ) Can be a bit sticky but nothing serious, just keep ya cool! the second one took me two goes to get up though...and I feel really bad about it still! one was playing and I caught an edge doing a flat spin (trying - though I did one perfect one) and my paddles got caught 'cos it was only about 2ft. deep!!! |
