„u„v „s I never lost a contact with the boots lenses, but have had some of the specsavers slip out of place - this was on the guil and lower guisane in the alps, which was amusing..... „u„v „u Sunday saw us up at Garrigill and higher up a bit of exploration on the Upper South Tyne gorges. Significant Tree hazard and one drop at the start of the second gorge renedered unrunnable by a large fir tree. The Ashgill beck was also running but we didn't have time to explore up there properly. We picked up the rest of the gang at Garrigill and paddled down to Alston. The river was dropping fast and had droppped 1ft whilst we were running the section upstream. A good level indicator for the gorges is the ford just upstream of garrigill. This was paddleable. The mini gorges are very dingly-dell but not technical, never more than a 3. https://criticism.english.illinois.edu/sites/criticism.english.illinois.edu/files/webform/garena-generator1.pdf
Turn right at the traffic lights then second left to Pont Nedd Fechan. Stop at the Angel Hotel (not for beers!yet!) check the level at the bridge. There is a big rock in the current flow basically it should be at least half way up this..if it isn„t then go and do the Mellte or something else. This is the get out. From here follow the road steeply up the hill and out on to the hills once over the cattle grid take the first left over another cattle grid and then steeply down to the river and a car park GR 908105 https://criticism.english.illinois.edu/sites/criticism.english.illinois.edu/files/webform/garena-generator8.pdf
"I take your point about the pool - and do most of my teaching there. Wrongly or rightly I was told by my course provider that pool teaching "doesn't really count". Generally the pool skills I have taught are rolling (paddle&hand) forward/backward paddling and some support strokes." https://criticism.english.illinois.edu/sites/criticism.english.illinois.edu/files/webform/garena-generator3.pdf

I do think though that some things on syllabi are less practical than they may have been in the past (due to boat design?) - 20km of grade 2 for the 4* kayak inland springs to mind. Without sounding ignorant, does such a stretch of water exist in the UK? If resultingly this is a requirement that is overlooked due to impractability, why is it still in the syllabus? https://criticism.english.illinois.edu/sites/criticism.english.illinois.edu/files/webform/garena-generator11.pdf
