It seems that more and more people are only interested in moving water, and freestyle - and hence don't spend much time on flat water. The progression of Star Tests doesn't seem to apply. Many people take 3* so they can go to HPP or Teeside or wherever. Of all the 4* paddlers I know, none ever took 1* or 2*. Plym below Shaugh bridge...fast grade 4 for the first few hundred yards until just around the first bend you see below the bridge...quite a wakeup! But then eases dramatically in gradient and grade, good fun, no nasties. |
