The Dart season for canoeing is Oct 1st to Feb 28th (or 29th if we're in a Leap Year) The Loop is open for all of these months, the Upper from Dec 1st to end of Feb and the Lower (below River Dart Country Park to Totnes) closes at the end of Jan. Viewing the narrow gorge just below the put in bridge would be sensible. If theres a clear run out of the gorge then theres enough. I have put your letter forward to be put into CoDe and hope this starts a debate that will result in answering your questions. I am beginning to understand the complications of the assessor scheme by listening to others on the telephone and I am shocked about the way some of the ccp's are behaving. I've done the training but due to the lack of water so far (with the exception of the past 2 or 3 weeks!) I've not managed to paddle as much as I'd have liked to feel ready for assessment...could be interested in a re-training and assessment package but don't know costs etc? Splendid fun today...the upper Dart had dropped to a more sensible level than yesterday...still out of it's banks but it was all paddleable. Even so I spent a fair while ummming and ahhhing before running the ledges...
