But it was looooow. There were about 300 of us, so we broke up into little groups to achieve maximum faff. My group went first, and we scraped the whole blasted river to the end at Ivybridge. We waited around for the others, and then...the river started rising very fast, until it was higher than I've ever paddled it. Not sure whether we were lucky or unlucky for missing this...we walked up to the gorge to see the others, and there was an impressive amount of carnage, lots of swimmers and stray boats...he he he he. Most of us had a go at the falls in town, which were pretty lively (I showed how it wasn't done, on video too) and then regrouped for an upper Dart trip. But after a while, paddlers tend to ignore the paddle and try and see the result of the stroke.
